ACCC QUEENSLAND and
NORTHERN NSW STUDY CIRCLE

The Australian Commonwealth Collector's Club NSW, has established a Queensland-based sub branch.
The move, initiated by Michael Drury, recognises a number of things. "Put simply, there was a demand for this Group. Queensland and Northern Rivers NSW Collectors can now participate in the exceptional knowledge shared at these meetings" Mr Drury said.
The inaugural meeting, attracted over 15 philatelists and was held in conjunction with the monthly Collectors Club of Queensland meeting.

Report of our February 2022 Meeting
We met in Brisbane (following the Collectors Club of Queensland monthly meeting.
Some great stamps were discussed including a previously unplated Roo; some interesting $10 painting varieties; the only known 1970 Cook strip of stamps with black omitted and 2 pre-decimal stamps featuring printing flaws.
Probably the highlight was the presentation of the plate varieties presented by Geoff Wotherspoon. In introducing Geoff, Mick Drury described him as the world's leading authority on the 4d KGV.
Geoff's display (one page shown here) charts the initial use of the plate then charts sections of the plate as they
deteriorated with use after years of printing. Geoff has then detected when the plate was first repaired and, after further use, deterioration led to the second repair to the plate by the engravers.
For those interested in the time it took Geoff to do this body of work - Geoff first started his research in the late 1970's.
The next ACCC QLD/NTH NSW meeting will be held on Sunday 8 May at the Collectors' Club of Queensland May meeting.
It is proposed that the August meeting will be held in conjunction with the Twin Towns Stamp Club meeting in Tweed Heads on 1st August.
